Small Businessperson of the Year Award

“I love that everyone here is like a big family and works together to help each other. It makes it a great place to work.”. “I enjoy being a part of helping people and having them call back with good reviews and knowing that they’re ‘wowed’ by us. I love the flexibility and the easy-going work environment.”  These are actual statements made by employees of Badger Basement Systems.  People enjoy working here so much that we have a very low turnover rate.  Creating happy employees and keeping them happy isn't always easy, but Jim Hedrick always finds a way. 

Jim received the Small Businessperson of the Year award given out by the Fort Atkinson Chamber of Commerce not only for the work that he does for his employees and his customers, but also for the work that he does for the community.  Jim is always there to help others and to be a leader when needed. 

Jim is very humble and does not take full credit for creating the business that we are now.   As a matter of fact, when Accounts Manager/ Co-owner Mary Lawrence asked him if there was anything that he wanted her to say on his behalf, he made it clear the point that he wanted to get across.  Mary Lawrence said in her acceptance speech, “His message was pretty clear, and that’s simply that we would not be where we are today as a business if it were not for all the great people that work with us.”  

Jim is very deserving of this award and was very humbled for even being nominated, not to mention for receiving it.
