Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week
This year the State of Wisconsin has declared April 11-15 Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week.
It is hard to think of severe storms and tornadoes when we are still wearing winter coats and seeing snow in the forecast. However, with recent storms and tornadoes in Florida we are reminded how unpredictable and dangerous they can be.
Wisconsin on average has 21 tornadoes per year, most commonly from May-August. In 2008, the state saw a total of 38 tornadoes, including one in Kenosha County on January 7th. Since storms and tornadoes can strike at any time, with little to no warning, the best time to prepare is before they happen.
On Thursday, April 14th the state will be conducting mock fire drills. Use this time to discuss an emergency plan with your family. The basement is still recognized as the safest place to seek shelter during a tornado. Because of this, Badger Basement Systems recommends having an inspection by a certified waterproofing specialist.
Contact us today to schedule a free inspection and estimate of your basement. Our specialists can discuss how the WaterGuard and the TripleSafe Sump Pump will keep your basement dry. Pair our waterproofing system with our basement finishing products to create a safe and dry environment for your family.
